Cancelled - Collaborative Project Leadership of Cross-Functional Teams

Power Skills

Successful cross-functional teams require collaborative project leadership (CPL). CPL can be defined as a set of leadership tactics that heighten a sense of unity among cross-functional team members. These tactics encourage team members to:

•  Actively share in planning and control processes
•  Share management responsibilities
•  Understand the importance of social as well as technical skills
•  Support the 15 properties of effective cross-functional collaboration
•  Identify and resolve conflicts quickly
•  Actively listen
•  Dispense praise
•  Identify staff and resource deficits
•  Identify meaningful status measures
•  Identify useful tools

One essential CPL tactic focuses on maximizing the effectiveness of cross-functional collaboration by sharing its 15 properties with the team. Then, a bar chart of these properties is periodically generated to display their status and identify those needing improvement. A description of the 15 properties and a property status generator are freely available at http://clearspecs.com/Collaboration-Resources.php.

  1. Learn to identify essential CPL goals and develop associated tactics
